Saint Patrick's Dinner Preparations
We work hard to make everything nice plus we like to experiment! We began the work of love on Thursday by getting the Irish Soda Bread fresh form the market.
Did You Know? - Image result The traditional way of serving your Irish soda bread is serving the loaf while it's warm with butter. Spread a thick layer of your butter on the slice and revel on the hearty flavor exploding in your mouth. If you think that butter is boring, it's not.
Thursday The 16th, We Got Started!
We are doing for preparations:
- Crockpot/Slow-cooker - Eight hours on high so it needed to be turned on at 9:00 am!
- Over Baked - Several hours in the 350 degree oven
- Instapot (Pressure Cooker) - 90 minutes on high, release, drop in the veggies, followed by another five minutes,
- Traditional Boiled - Three hours simmering in the pot creating that distinctive aroma all over the house!
When Robin arrived, an alarm went off in New Hampshire and Colleen was n the other end of the horn. They talked for quite a while catching up on everything!
The circuits were hot between Orange and Dover
We had already finished one of the pots when Mary said get the others. We had a large collection of corned beef in various sizes from 1.5 - 4 pounds.
Pick one, any one
We discussed other potential decorations but the hot tub idea was nixed just in the nick of time!
Robin took notes for when we are gone tomorrow; a picture is worth a thousand words.
She can't miss with her new method!
Mary puts the finishing touches on the oven baked version then into the frig it goes to rest before the big show tomorrow.
What are the secret ingredients?
The beef is hiding beneath all the potatoes, onions carrots, garlic, and other hidden ingredients!
This looks so good, we were tempted to cook it this evening.
At 8:00 pm we turned on a Keifer & Donald Sutherland movie, Unforgiven and watched it while Mary did her magic with deviled eggs. We are still trying to figure out where she found green chickens!
Them suckers are indeed green!
The equipment is ready for tomorrow!
We had a small snack before going to bed!
Friday Morning We Started Again...Remotely
Robin got us started as we had an eye doctors appointment at 9:30 am in Newport Beach; Paul is getting his Cadillacs measured for eventual replacement! Robin to the rescue!
Robin started two of the corned beefs, under the supervision of Scout who we call O'Scout hist for today.
