Day 2 - 9/25/2026 - Mary's First Day In Bar Harbor (Daily Diary)
We slept like it was out of style. Robin is usually up and moving at 3:00 a.m. but when we called at 10:00am, she was still asleep. This traveling takes a lot out of you!! So Mary and I went downstairs to the dining room and had a wonderful breakfast!

Always a smile!

"I am hungry, pass me anything!!"

The view from our table was super!

The pre-hurricane weather was fabulous!

Looks perfectly normal, but... A Nor Easter is coming our way!
A nor'easter is a powerful storm that affects the East Coast of North America, especially the northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada.
It's called a nor'easter because the strongest winds often blow from the northeast.
Nor'easters can bring:
• Heavy rain or snow
• Strong winds
• Coastal flooding
• Beach erosion
• Dangerous travel conditions
• Sometimes blizzard conditions
They most often happen between fall and spring, especially in winter, when cold air from the north meets warm, moist air over the Atlantic Ocean.

Robin maps out our plan!

I am a two fisted drinker!

Bar Harbor is fairly old.
Bar Harbor is a scenic coastal town on Mount Desert Island in Maine, best known as a gateway to Acadia National Park. It features rugged ocean views, rocky shorelines, forested mountains, and a charming downtown with shops, restaurants, galleries, and inns.
The town is popular for:
• Visiting Acadia National Park
• Hiking Cadillac Mountain
• Whale watching and boat tours
• Kayaking and sailing
• Walking the Shore Path
• Eating fresh Maine seafood, especially lobster
Bar Harbor has a strong tourism economy, especially in summer and fall, and is known for its natural beauty, historic mansions, and relaxed New England coastal atmosphere.

Entertainment?

130 years old, looks pretty good!

The banks are always looking good!

The fountain is in the middle of the park.
Bar Harbor Village Green is a small public park in the center of downtown Bar Harbor, Maine. It serves as a convenient gathering place for visitors and locals, with benches, open lawn space, shade trees, and a relaxed village atmosphere.
The park is close to shops, restaurants, inns, and the waterfront, making it a popular spot to rest while exploring downtown. In warmer months, it often hosts community events, live music, and seasonal activities. It is also a useful starting point for walking around Bar Harbor or catching nearby transportation to Acadia National Park.
Overall, Village Green is a pleasant downtown park known for its central location, peaceful setting, and community feel.

The trees are beginning to change

Bar Island is right across the bay.
Bar Island is a small island just off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine, near Acadia National Park. It is best known for its natural land bridge, which appears at low tide and allows visitors to walk from downtown Bar Harbor to the island.
At low tide, you can walk across the exposed gravel bar from the end of Bridge Street in Bar Harbor. Once on the island, there is a short trail leading to a viewpoint with nice views of Bar Harbor, Frenchman Bay, and the surrounding coastline.
Important: the land bridge is only accessible for a limited window around low tide. If you stay too long, the tide comes in and covers the crossing, which can leave you stranded until the next low tide. Always check the tide chart before going.
Bar Island is part of Acadia National Park, and it's a popular, easy adventure for visitors staying in Bar Harbor.

It is a wonderful town for walking.

We walked and walked!

A little help from AI!

The guest of honor!!
Lobster is a popular seafood known for its sweet, tender meat and rich flavor. It is commonly boiled, steamed, grilled, or baked, and is often served with melted butter, lemon, or seasoning. Lobster meat is used in dishes such as lobster rolls, bisque, pasta, salads, and surf-and-turf meals. It is considered a delicacy in many places, especially in coastal regions like Maine and Atlantic Canada. Lobster is high in protein and provides nutrients such as vitamin B12, zinc, selenium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
