Part 1 - Section 20 - Dad Was A Teenager In The Twenties

When Men Were Really Men!

Through The Eyes Of A Teenager

I always kick myself for not sitting down with Dad and getting a real long brain dump -- See Dad was 40 when I was born... What was life really like? How did he get the news since they didn't have a radio when he was growing up! What was it like to have to go to bed when the sun went down becuase electric lights were unknown? What was the kitchen like with the wood burning stove?

Kids today will be licking themselves also someday for not sitting back and listening to their elders.

Look at what dad missed!

The 1920s represents both the heyday and the twilight of the silent era. It also marks the birth of sound and the growing popularity of early talkies.

Silent Cinema was at its peak, when the arrival of the first sound film in 1927 shook its foundations. The last three years of the decade offered a mix of both silent and talking pictures.
