The Trip And Day One At The Lodge
Great flight and we were ready to get off and have fun! But alas, Lanai requires a short jaunt from Honolulu.
Upon landing as we taxied the pilot announced a submarine leaving Pearl Harbor. It looked pretty big from the aircraft!

The de Havilland Canada Dash 8 (sometimes abbreviated as -8) is a series of twin-engined, medium range, turboprop airliners introduced by de Havilland Canada (DHC) in 1984. They are now produced by Bombardier Aerospace, which purchased DHC from Boeing in 1992.
We await our inter-island flight and fool around in the bar taking pictures through the mirror... We just forget to smile at the camera!

Lāna`i Airport (IATA: LNY, ICAO: PHNY) is a public airport located 3 miles (5 km) southwest of Lāna`i City, serving as the only airport of the island of Lānaʻi, Hawai`i . Lanai Airport occupies 505 acres about three miles southwest of Lanai City on the island of Lanai. The airport has a single runway and primarily serves scheduled interisland and commuter/air taxi traffic, with some unscheduled charter and general aviation activity. A new passenger terminal complex was recently constructed to replace the aging facilities. The new complex includes improved roadway access, parking, and rental car facilities, as well as new cargo and airport support facilities. The runway is proposed to be extended in the future to permit use by jet aircraft without payload restriction. The existing airport access roadway from Kaumalaupau Highway will continue to serve as the primary access route from Lanai Cit
It is a 15 minute ride to the lodge... But we got dropped off half way to pick up our jeep!

It was fun to have afternoon tea in the great room and sit by the fireplace in the evening and listen to the music playing in the background!

The Orchid House was always a pleasant visit. Go in and wonder around seeing what mother nature does to make our world beautiful.
