We went to the Post for lunch and shared one of their amazing turkey sandwiches. Bob and Robin came over around 3:00 pm and we enjoyed a dazzling event of laughter and mirth! Let the day begin....
Lunch On The Waterfront With Mary's Financial Advisors
But first, we had to make this a two event day so we joined Paula and Dan at the American Legion Post in Newport! We enjoy their company and got so busy talking, we didn't take photos of the group!
The fog was still in and the patio temperature was a cool 64 degrees so I decided to have an Irish Whiskey to warm up the insides!

The bay was calm and peaceful with only three or four boats leaving their docs.

A perfect blow-up for the American Legion (We have the same one at home)

We jumped in the car and headed home via Ralph's Market
Necessary last minute supplies!
Dinner With The Duda's
This year was a little different. Robin and I celebrated with Bob and Mary NOT on our birthdays but a few days ahead because of scheduling conflicts. The important thing is that the tradition continues!

It was cold on December 1th 1944!
Did You Know? - Eighty-one years ago, the world was deep in World War II, with major events like the pivotal D-Day landings (June 6, 1944) in Normandy, France, beginning the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi control, a massive turning point. Key moments included Operation Market Garden in September 1944, the eventual liberation of Antwerp, and the ongoing intense fighting that would lead to Germany's defeat.

We went shopping for the best steaks we could find!

No doubt, Pacific Ranch Market reigns supreme!

Robin does the "Happy Dance"

Our new candle wax heater is working as advertised!

Oh my, looks like an entire cow!!! One Ribeye and four Fillet Mignons!

It seems Bob has a friend!

Heat up the grill professor.

Bob tried the steak seasoning that they gave us a few weeks back and decided it was way too hot for tonight's meal!

Two pan Bob! One for the Ribeye and one for the Fillet Mignons!

Bob demonstrates how to make double baked potatoes!
Did You Know? - Double-baked potatoes (or twice-baked) are comfort food combining baked potato fluff with mashed potato fillings, often with cheese, bacon, and chives, getting their name from baking twice for creamy insides and crispy skins; they use starchy Russets, are a fancier side than regular baked potatoes, and are a great way to use leftover insides

Who needs a mixer when you have a Bob??

He is about to stuff the previously baked potato.

The broiler finishes the job!

Hot hot hot!!

"It is sure nice to host a party and sit down at the same time...
Go, Bob, Go1!'

"What am I thinking?"
CAUTION: You must be over twenty-one to guess!

The Robin pose!

We are ready to go!!!

Years of training are required to use tongs properly!

DO NOT DISTURB, Executive Chef in action!

Bob sears "the beast" on each side!

We called the steak "dino" as in saurus!

"Yup! It is just about right!!!"

No fair using your hands to wiggle your ears!

We did not know the cap had real horns built in! Toot! Toot!

Hang one more slight adjustment needed!

The girls are looking hungry!

Making the final adjustments!

Oh my... The aromas are fantastic!

We are just a few minutes away!

Fireball is kept handy just in case!

The girls are about to enter the kitchen and fill their plates!

Bob's workstation is filled with goodies including his home made steak sauces!

Pick your poison!

Ding Dong... Sautéed bell peppers

The potatoes are ready. Mary and Paul share one!

Fill those plates!

Oh my! A dinner fit for a king.... Hey, we are kings!

The plates became empty instantly

Watch out for the Fireball soaked maraschino cherries
Did You Know? - Maraschino cherries started as dark, sour Marasca cherries preserved in liqueur from Croatia but became the bright red, sweet, almost flavorless treats we know today thanks to an Oregon State University (OSU) professor, Ernest Wiegand, who perfected a method in the 1920s using Royal Anne cherries, calcium salts, and almond extract to create the iconic vibrant color and texture, making them a staple in American cocktails and sundaes, a far cry from their luxury European origins.

Raspberries, blueberries and Fireball cherries!

The final touches!

Yep, their feet start moving and the song comes out!

Here they come with a plate full of calories.

The neighborhood dogs are beginning to howl!

Maybe she will forget the words!

The cake with the candle is for Paul!

Mary is enjoying the serenade!

It is a beauty!!!

It took me four tries before blowing out the candle!

"Happy Birthday To Me! "

"I am this many years old!!"

The cards made the old man giggle!!

I loved my birthday cards!

Robin attempts to teach us Smuge, to no avail!
We return to Crazy Eight's!

"I bid ten of doggie-feet!"

Bob reminds us he only has one card remaining!

We had to make sure which finger it was!
