Fireworks At Joe & Amy's
This was the first 4th of July in years that we didn't go to Old Ranch — mainly because the prices have apparently decided to celebrate inflation with fireworks of their own.
So instead, we lived the glamorous holiday life at home from Friday through Sunday: no crowds, no overpriced food, and no need to take out a small loan for potato salad. On Monday afternoon, we headed to Joe's to celebrate with family, which was wonderful.
We really missed Robin and family, Colleen and family, and the Zaitz crew — having everyone there would have made the day perfect. Or at least loud enough to count as our own fireworks show.
Joe's in-laws are fantastic people who we enjoy being with on these occasions.
It was nice because there were nine of us and we could all sit and talk before the show got underway.
Mary brought the flag cake and the other foods were wonderful!
The artichoke salad was fantastic!
Joe showed my how to us the drone; he is a smart guy!
Joe is going to get into trouble!!!
He thought it funny to be teaching the old man new tricks!
We began circling the table at 6:00 PM
A really cute couple; Joe and Amy are amazing parents!
Joe and Amy 75 years ago!
I wore my new shirt that Colleen sent last week!
Mary ironed the shirt, this time without me being in it!
We had to get a picture of the three of us; Mary, Paul, and The Cake.
We always have a wonderful time together.
The Mad Scientist s about to go outside and get things set up!
We all yacked for another 40 minutes!
Diane enjoyed the banter back and forth.
Careful, watch out for Alex.
We now call him "Fearless"; Apollo is brave!
Joe shows the old man how to fly the drone
Mary takes the cake... to the car in its own ice chest!
My first picture with the drone.
I brought it up close and personal.
"Laser beam on, take aim!!"
Joe few it 100 feet up.
"Hello drone, keep your distance!"
We are now ready for the show to begin!
Mary controls the drone with her magical powers.
Joe sets up the tripod; what a great idea!
"Hurry up dad!"
It started with a bang!
Smoke everywhere.
Thank goodness there was a slight breeze
The displays were wonderful
Sure beats the greenies and their ideas.
The Moon had a lot of company this year.
Bright lights indeed.
Flares were going off a few blocks away.
Amazing colors
The boys also put on a show.
