These are random snapshots with a tad of explanation...
Paul & Sue took the two oldest grandsons to Alaska for a two week cruise and visit. Here we are on a glacier where it is in the 20's. The helicopter ride was awesome. The glacier was 400 miles in length!
Surveying the glacier from about 100 feet above the flow Paul discovers a new meaning to the word "slippery"! The vest was an aircraft requirement... not part of my "outfit".
Sue, Jon, and Zack getting ready for a fish dinner on one of the glacier fed rivers. The salmon was caught just hours before we ate and good was an understatement!
See! It is NOT too cold here in Alaska. why? Because we are on the ship and she just ran outside from the nice warm interior! Name of the picture you ask? "Pretty In Pink"!
$1,000,000 smile! We are on a river barge pier after making an hour flight on a pontoon plane and laning on a river so we can have fresh salmon!
Cousin Kat and Aunt Edith at our house for an afternoon of visiting and eating. This picture is circa 2000. Pies I am sure were delivered.

"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. "
God Bless America,
Land that I love.
Stand beside her, and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans, white with foam
God bless America, My home sweet home.
Alaska is a state in the United States of America, located in the extreme northwest portion of the North American continent. It is the largest U.S. state in terms of area (by a substantial margin), along with being one of the wealthiest and most racially diverse.
The area that became Alaska was purchased from Russian interests on October 18, 1867. The land was bought by Secretary of State William H. Steward. The land went through several administrative changes before becoming an organized territory in 1912 and the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959. The name "Alaska" is derived from the Aleut alaxsxaq, meaning "the mainland", or more literally "the object towards which the action of the sea is directed".
Alaska is one of two U.S. States not bordered by another state, Hawaii being the other. It is the only non-contiguous state in North America; about 500 miles (800 km) of Canadian territory separate Alaska from Washington State. Alaska is thus an exclave of the United States that is part of the continental U.S. but is not part of the contiguous U.S.[3] Alaska is also the only state whose capital city is accessible only via ship or air. No roads connect Juneau to the rest of the state.
The state is bordered by Yukon and British Columbia, Canada to the east, the Gulf of Alaska and the Pacific Ocean to the south, the Bering Sea, Bering Strait, and Chukchi Sea to the west, and the Beaufort Sea and the Arctic Ocean to the north.
Alaska is the largest state in the United States in terms of land area at 570,380 square miles (1,477,277 km²), over twice as large as Texas, the next largest state. If the state's westernmost point were superimposed on San Francisco, California, its easternmost point would be in Jacksonville, Florida. Alaska also has more coastline than all of the contiguous U.S. combined. It is larger than all but 18 sovereign nations.
