Avalon Ball May 17th 2008 Information
Please join the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles and Maxwell DeMille
to celebrate the ADSLA's 25th Anniversary in a glorious night of dancing
to Dean Mora and Mora's Modern Rythmists at the historic Art Deco Avalon
Casino Ballroom on beautiful Catalina Island--the same ballroom that
played host to Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and all the greats of the Big
Band era. Dance The Lindy Hop, Jitterbug, Balboa, The Charleston, Tango,
Foxtrot, the Waltz and much, much, amazingly much more!
The Avalon Ball is early this year scheduled for May 17th. The ball is held in the Avalon Casino overlooking Avalon Harbor. From 6:00 PM until 10:00 PM you will go back 50 years dancing to a big-band on a wooden floor floating on three inches of cork with 500 folks who enjoy big-band ballroom dancing!

Ticket Pickup & Check In Begins At 4:00 PM
Check-in for the Avalon Ball will start at 4pm. Please come early to check in and get your tickets. Photo ID is required. You may leave once you have your tickets to go eat. This will help expedite your quick entrance into the Casino to enjoy the Avalon Ball.
ADSLA’s Avalon Ball Ticket Policy
Please note that all ticket sales are final. We are a non-profit 501c3 organization and the Avalon Ball is our major fundraiser for the year. This event helps support our ongoing preservation efforts in and around the Los Angeles area. We cannot offer refunds or accept cancellations, as we have already turned people away because of the spot you were taking. You are, however, free to sell or give your ticket to someone else, though we will not serve as an agent or go-between to help you do it. If we sell out (and we have the last three years), please note that we do not maintain a waiting list, and we absolutely discourage people coming to the door hoping to take advantage of a last minute cancellation. .
Dance Begins At 6:00 PM Sharp
Doors will open at 6pm sharp. No access to attendees will be granted before 6pm. Also, please note that there will be two lines to get into the Avalon Ball. We will have a line for the Art Deco Society of Los Angeles Members and one for Non-members. Once you have your tickets and are ready to stand in line, please choose the line that is appropriate for your status relating to the Art Deco Society. Please utilize the Coat Check for all of your personal items that you bring with you to the Avalon Ball. The Coat Check is FREE! Please do not take your bags or other personal items into the Ballroom or leave them in the Men's or Women's Lounges.
You may change clothes in the Casino changing area.
Travel To Catalina
Catalina Express will run a non-scheduled 11:00pm "Avalon Ball" special boat returning to Long Beach Catalina Landing. To book a place on this boat, and on a regularly scheduled boat to the Avalon, please contact Catalina Express today!
Departure For Avalon
Departure from Long Beach is at 6:15am, 8:30am, 10:00 am, 12:15pm, 2:00pm, or 4:15pm.

Accomodations
Should you want to stay over, the hotels generally require a two night minimum so you would go over Friday evening and come back Sunday. Check for current rates and contact information.
