I've Heard That Song Before
I've Heard That Song Before
"I've Heard That Song Before" is a 1942 popular song with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Sammy Cahn. It was introduced by Martha O'Driscoll (dubbed by Margaret Whiting) in the 1942 film Youth on Parade. It was recorded by Harry James and his Orchestra with Helen Forrest on vocal on July 31, 1942.
It seems to me I've heard that song before
It's from an old familiar score
I know it well, that melody
It's funny how a theme recalls a favorite dream
A dream that brought you so close to me
I know each word because I've heard that song before
The lyrics said "Forever more"
Forever more's a memory
Please have them play it again
And I'll remember just when
I heard that lovely song before

I'll be seeing you in all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces all day through
In that small caf, the park across the way
The children's carousel, the chestnut trees, the wishing well
I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day
In everything that's light and gay
I'll always think of you that way
I'll find you in the mornin' sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
------ instrumental break ------
I'll find you in the mornin' sun
And when the night is new
I'll be looking at the moon
But I'll be seeing you
